Experience

Paddy joined Aurora as a Radiation Protection Adviser in 2004.

Paddy joined the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) in 1986 as an Assistant Scientific Officer. After studying part-time for an HNC in Metallurgy and a degree in Physical Sciences Paddy embarked on a career as a research scientist in the field of Nuclear Fuel Behaviour. After 13 years of work in support of Civil and Military UK Nuclear Safety Programmes and EU funded research Paddy decided on a change of career when the work became more project management biased rather than science biased.

In 1999 Paddy joined AEA Technology Nuclear Engineering (which became RWE NUKEM in 2002) as a Health Physicist whilst studying for an MSc in Radiation and Environmental Protection. Working for RWE NUKEM Paddy gained a wide range of experience in various nuclear and non-nuclear sectors including industrial research, production, decommissioning, nuclear engineering, land remediation and transport of dangerous goods.

In 2002 Paddy was seconded back to UKAEA as part of an RPA team responsible for large operational radiochemical facility and as a member of the Harwell Site Emergency Organisation. During this period Paddy’s other work included projects in the Former Soviet Union and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) programmes in the UK.
