history and staff

The Company was originally formed in mid 2001 by Cliff Ellis and Robert Truman under the name AEAT RPA Services. In early 2003 AEAT RPA Services changed to Aurora Health Physics Services as Bob and Cliff were joined by Allan May, Jill Reay and Glenn Hardcastle, with Robert Hill and Paddy Copeland joining in 2004.

The team was strengthened in 2005 with the addition of Jon Taylor and Victoria Ibbetson. Strong growth in the client base enabled Aurora to recruit Raj Bunger in August 2006 to provide additional expertise in both ionising and non-ionising radiation protection.

The team grew further in 2007 through the recruitment of Amy Yeadon as the Aurora Office Manager and Emma Leishman as a Health Physics Technician.

Victoria returned to her native Australia in late 2007 to get married.

Neil Dorling joined Aurora full time in late 2008 as a Health Physics Supervisor and Site Manager.

Recent recruits are Paul Vine who has joined us as a Health Physics Supervisor/Trainee Radiation Protection Adviser and Lyn Absolom who has joined us as Office Manager. Paul and Lyn joined Aurora in 2009.

Lindsey Bobrowski joined the Company in 2010 as a Trainee Radiation Protection Adviser/Non-Ionising Radiation Specialist. Lindsey was offered the full-time role following her excellent work at Aurora as part of her MSc dissertation project.

The most recent change to the Aurora team has been the standing down of Cliff Ellis and Robert Truman as Directors and part owners of the Company. Cliff and Bob were founder members of Aurora and have been instrumental in the growth and success of the Company over the last eight years. Cliff and Bob will continue to work very closely with Aurora in an associate capacity whilst allowing them more time to pursue other external interests. Amy also decided not to return to the Company following maternity leave and the arrival of her beautiful daughter.

Our most recent recruit is James Cairns who joined Aurora in May 2011 as an accredited RPA with significant experience to further boost the Company’s experienced technical resource base. James has worked within the Nuclear Industry for over 20 years principally at AWE but more recently supporting civil defence organisations in his capacity as an RPA.
